Project Details
Kagabiro Water Supply System
The Kagabiro Water Supply System project involved the construction, reinforcement, and extension of an 8.1 km water supply network in the Mubuga Sector of Karongi District. This significant infrastructure project was completed in 2021, providing improved access to clean water for multiple communities in the region.
The project was implemented in partnership with World Vision Rwanda, with a contract value of 117,246,427 Rwandan Francs. This initiative aligns with E.F.M Ltd's mission to contribute to sustainable infrastructure development in Rwanda and improve the quality of life for local communities.
Project Highlights
- Construction of water sources and catchment points to ensure reliable water collection
- Installation of 8.1 kilometers of water distribution network
- Building of water reservoirs and storage facilities for consistent water supply
- Creation of public water access points throughout the community
- Implementation of sustainable water management systems
- Training of local water committees for ongoing maintenance
The project addressed critical water access challenges in the Mubuga Sector, where many residents previously had to travel long distances to obtain clean water. By extending the water supply system, E.F.M Ltd has significantly reduced the time and effort required for water collection, particularly benefiting women and children who traditionally bear this responsibility.
"The Kagabiro Water Supply System has transformed our community. Before this project, many families struggled to access clean water, spending hours each day walking to distant water sources. Now, with water points much closer to our homes, our children have more time for education, and overall community health has improved significantly."
The successful completion of this project demonstrates E.F.M Ltd's technical expertise in water supply infrastructure and commitment to quality execution. The company utilized modern construction techniques and high-quality materials to ensure the durability and longevity of the water system, even in challenging terrain.
Through close collaboration with local authorities and community stakeholders, E.F.M Ltd was able to align the project with local development priorities and ensure maximum benefit to the target population. This participatory approach has contributed to strong community ownership and sustainability of the water supply system.
